Top 10 Oils and Usage!

I'm Jen O'Donnell and I'm so excited you are here and are searching for natural approaches to your health and self care!  You are going to totally fall in love with using these amazing pure grade essential oils!!!  To be truly empowered you need to not only have the information but the tools to really live the more natural lifestyle you are searching for.  You are obviously here because you love the idea of essential oils but may not be sure what to do with them......and I completely understand because I thought the same thing once!!!  Below I have listed the top 10 oils that come in the enrollment kits and easy ways you can use them.  Again, this is just the tip of the iceberg......but without feeling overwhelmed, I want you to know some easy ways to get started!  So, without any more ado, let me share!  


Lavender:

  • Sleepy Time- You can add a drop or two to everyones pillow.  Or place in a spray bottle with some water and spray the room and sheets.
  • Add to epsom salts and add to your tub for a spa-like relaxing experience.
  • Cooking and touch something hot......add lavender to effected area to help reduce redness and swelling. 
  • Too much time in the sun and got a little pink.....add to your skin and will help relieve irritation.
  •  Add Lavender and Melaleuca to a roller bottle and I call it our "owie" blend.  Great for kids to put on after little accidents. 
  • Add to you dryer balls- so great when drying your bedding.
  • Use to help ease anxious feelings, stress and promote mental clarity.
  • Love for mama's to be, put some on your itchy belly!  

Lemon:

  • Amazing Pick Me Up!  When you are low in energy or need some motivation you can put a drop of lemon in your hands, inhale, rub on the back of your neck, on your wrists and you will be amazed how good you feel!
  • Detox- add one drop of lemon oil to your hot water in the morning or night.  You can also add a drop to your glass water bottle (make sure you do not use citrus oils in anything but glass- it is a detox oil so it is meant to get rid of toxins- even in styrofoam or plastic!).
  • Diffuse- when you diffuse this oil, it helps uplift mood, detoxes the air, and neutralizes odors.  
  • Sticky Stuff- This is amazing for your kids temporary tattoos that never seem to come off, stickers, tree sap and even helps get gum out of hair!
  • Car Deodorizer- Put a couple of drops on a cotton ball and put in your the car vents.  The car will smell amazing and moods will be lifted!
  • All Purpose Cleaner- Get a spray bottle, put water, vinegar and 6-8 drops of lemon oil.  It's amazing to clean kitchen counters, stainless steel, and bathrooms.  
  • Add to your dryer balls.  I love putting a couple of drops of lemon oil to my wooly dryer balls. Makes everything smell so fresh!
  • Cook- add some drops to guac, or fish dishes.  So many options for cooking!
Peppermint:

  • Breathe it in to help open airways, clear foggy brain and increase alertness.
  • Rub some on your stomach for any tummy discomfort
  • Those "power surges" you get when you get a little older....great to help those!
  • Great for those hot summer days.  Add to a spay bottle with water and everyone gets cooled down.  
  • Amazing for helping cool down your kids temps!  When they don't feel well and you want to help them cool down, this is incredible.
  • Add to cooking- we love to add them to our brownies!
  • Need some support with controlling your urge to eat....diffuse or smell this, it will definitely help!
  • When I'm driving on long car rides, I love to carry this with me.  Helps refresh me when I start to get a little sleepy!
  • Got Ants????  Put in a spray bottle and spray the perimeter of the room and area where they are getting in!  
  • Feeling some pressure in your head or pounding?  Add some to your temples and back of your neck.  
Oregano:

  • Remember this is a hot oil- so you almost always want to dilute this- especially with kids!!! If you ever have skin sensitivity make sure you have fractionated coconut oil on hand to help sooth!  Less is more- one drop is usually plenty because it is very potent.
  • Amazing to help boost your immune system.  Put a couple drops in a veggie capsule with some olive oil.  
  • Add to your "flu bomb" roller bottle mixture- Oregano, melaleuca, on guard, lemon and lavender.
  • Looking to clean green- use this in your showers, especially in the corners where yucky stuff can build up.  
  • Having a hard time with your digestion, maybe no being able to "go"......dilute this and put on your shines.....you will be amazed.
  • Skin Tags- lets just say I first did this without diluting and I burned my tag and skin all around my skin tag!  Dilute it, stay consistent and get rid of those buggers.
  • Add to your tea in the winter when you start to feel a little groggy.  
Frankincense:

  • When in doubt- use Frankie boy!  
  • Amazing to oil to add to almost any other oil- really complements them all.
  • It smells so amazing, sometimes I wear behind my ears like perfume!
  • Feeling stressed?  Add to lavender and peppermint and apply to your next to help calm and relive stress or tension.
  • Extreme pain in your head- put a drop on your thumb and press your thumb to the roof of your mouth.  It gets into your blood stream very quickly and will assist with that horrible throbbing.
  • Skin issues- promote youthful, radiant looking skin, slows the signs of aging, and smells good applying it all!!!  Add a drop with a carrier oil or add to your face cream.  
  • Love to add this to my epsom salts for a at home spa treatment.  
  • Great to use after a workout, helps with any tired muscles.  
  • Frankincense is part of our Cellular Complex blend because it promote healthy cellular proliferation.  If you take in a veggie capsule daily it will help support healthy cells in your body!
  • After my tubs or showers, I love to add a drop or two to my body lotion.  Not only does is smell amazing but has amazing benefits on our largest organ!
Melaleuca:

  • My first experience with Melaleuca was 2 weeks after my then 1 1/2 year old had tubes put in her ears and they fell out.  I put 2 drops of this oil on little cotton balls, place them in her ear 3 times day......let's just say we have never had to take her to the dr. again for ear discomfort!!!!
  • Add drops to your kids shampoo and conditioner to help prevent those little hair critters that go around the classrooms!!!
  • Amazing to add to your laundry detergent to get rid of any smells.
  • Add a drop to any skin blemishes
  • Add to your face moisturizer- great for your skin
  • Mix with Lavender for your kids "owie" blend!  
  • I make a mixture for my husband- Lavender, Frank and Fractionated coconut oils- he uses it after he shaves - bye bye razor burns!
  • Too much sun?  Mix with lavender or alone and but on your skin!
  • Great for immune boosting.  When added with On Guard- it even more support!
  • Another great one to use when cleaning your bathrooms.  
  • Have kids who play sports and come home with itchy feet???  Apply directly to their feet after each practice.
  • Love giving myself a quick foot massage every night before bed with this.  I mix with some Fractionated coconut oil, and off to bed with more than just soft feet, but overall well being!
On Guard:

  • Diffuse- this is one of our #1 diffused oils.  Its the protective blend.  When diffused, it helps support our bodies immune system when inhaled and helps fight any yucky stuff in the air on on the surfaces. 
  • My kids LOVE this in epsom salts in their tubs.  Great at night time!
  • I make a roller bottle of On Guard and Fractionated coconut oil for each of my kids.  They roll it on their feet every night to help protect them from any yucky stuff they may have encountered that day!  
  • Odors???  I put in the bottom of my garbage each time after I change the bag.  
  • Put in a spray bottle with water....clean your counters, bathrooms, door knobs, stair railings ....I even have my kids help me clean my baseboards! 
  • Each time we change our filters in our home, I add a couple drops of this.  It's amazing to help spread around the entire house!
  • Travel much???  I always take a little spray bottle and spray hotel rooms!
  • DIY- Hand Sanitizer!  Add with aloe vera gel, water, Vitamin E and On Guard.....it's the best and non-toxic!
Deep Blue:

  • Last year I was diagnosed with Tennis Elbow (which is comical since I hardly work out and it was on my left arm and I'm a righty!! ha).  I started to apply this as often as I could remember.  
  • Do your hands hurt after typing a bunch, this stuff is amazing for that!
  • Put in your gym bag and use before and after workouts- your muscles will thank you!
  • Feeling tension in your shoulders or neck- this will feel amazing!
  • Growing Pains......I put this on my son especially when he complains of occasional aches.  
  • After shoveling snow, raking leaves or gardening, I'm always so happy I have this to help support me!
  • This blend actually contains blue tansy and Helichrysum.  When used regularly it can actually help promote long term muscle, joint and bone health.
  • Do you go for sports massages- bring this with you for your therapist to use.
  • My husband had knee surgery last year and used this multiple times a day to help with inflammation and discomfort.
  • Some of us like to play sports or dance like we are still teenagers (I'm the dancer...).....I use this stuff then add some warm compresses to help decrease inflammation and support healthy blood flow!  
Breathe:

  • This blend is incredible for any respiratory discomfort
  • Diffuse to have the air and room smell amazing plus help support your respiratory system!
  • Apply to your chest and back when you feel constriction.
  • Put a drop in a bowl or sink of hot water.  Close your eyes and put a towel over your head and breathe in deep.  You will be amazed how much this helps.
  • College dorm rooms.....we all know that stale air feeling!  Diffuse Breathe in that room and is a great equalizer!
  • Staying at a friends house who has animals who might be super cute but might not agree with you???  Bring this oil, put some on your chest and under your nose before entering the house.  
  • This blend contains Eucalyptus which is known to help stimulate mental activity and wake up your brain!  It also contains peppermint, lemon and melaleuca which are all a mazing if you are feeling a little under the weather!
  • Assisted Living Homes....my mom is in one.  Diffusing this can help energy and change the whole feel of the place!!!  It makes it such a better experience for the residents, the employees and the visitors!  
  • Amazing with a CPAP machine for added support during the night.  
  • Make a roller bottle with breathe in it, keep it by the bed side.  My kids love to put it on their chest when they aren't feeling well.  
  • Add to a spray bottle with water and add to the pillow cases at night, great for night time support.  
DigestZen:
  • It does exactly what it says- helps your digestion system get to a place of zen!  Great on all ages when they have upset stomachs- put a drop diluted with fractionated coconut oil and massage it onto the stomach.  
  • Car trips......don't let a fun trip get ruined by upset stomachs.  Try putting a couple of drops on a cotton ball and putting it in the vents.  This will keep the family bonding positive and fun (minus maybe some disagreements my kids might have! ha).  
  • Trains, planes, boats- similar to the car trips.....keep this on hand and you can inhale and place on your stomach for support.
  • Over eat at a family gathering, buffets or you just can't get enough of your spouses cooking????  This will help balance your tummy!!
  • There have been nights my husband or I have been up in the middle of the night.  I take a shot glass of water, mix DigestZen, Peppermint and Lemon- swish it around in my mouth for 20-30 seconds and swallow.  I promise I was back in bed sleeping not long after.  
  • Place a few drops in a veggie cap to help any discomfort.
  • When my kids get the tummy bug bad, not only do I put this on their stomachs, and feet....I add some to their bath water.  I have also done this if thing's haven't been "moving" for them!
