Healthy Habits Week- Kids Detox Tub

We started our nightly ritual of tub time for as long as my kids can remember.  This is a great way for my kids to unwind and get ready for a good nights sleep.  Just as much as we love our detox tub, kids also benefit from detox baths.  It helps to flush out the toxins, support immune system, promotes sleep, great for muscles and nerves to function properly for growing kids, and helps promote concentration.  The kids will love it, and so will you!!!

What you need:
  • Epsom Salts
  • Baking Soda (if water is not filtered)
  • Essential Oils (Can Buy Here )
  • Coconut Oil (Optional)
Step 1:
Fill the tub with hot water.

Step 2:
Add Epsom Salts to the hot water.

DOSAGE:
Under 60lbs: 1/2 Cups Epsom Salts
60lbs-100lbs: 1 Cups Epsom Salts
Over 100lbs: 2 Cups Epsom Salts

Step 3:
Add Baking Soda (optional, but should be added if the water is not filtered)

DOSAGE:
Under 60lbs: 1/4 Cup Baking Soda
60lbs-100lbs: 1/2 Cup Baking Soda
Over 100lbs: 1 Cup Baking Soda

Step 4:
Add Essential Oils.  Remember, I am referring to therapeutic grade and top quality oil.  These are the oils I recommend.

DOSAGE:
Under 60lbs: 2-4 drops
60lbs-100lbs: 4-6 drops
Over 100lbs: 5-10 drops

Step 5:
Add Coconut Oil.  This is optional.  However I love using it with the kids because it helps moisturize and helps the oils to cling to their skin, even after they get out of the tub.  I use 1-2 tablespoons.

Remember- they will need to hydrate as well, just like us.  If you added coconut oil to the tub, do not wash their hair as coconut oil is greasy and hard to get out.  Do not use any moisturizers after the tub with any perfumes, dyes or chemicals.  If my kids seem like they want a little more pampering, after they are dried off, I will add a drop of lavender to coconut oil and lather them up!

Then they are all ready for bed!!
